Figma

Nowadays fitness apps are filled with videos but they don’t have proper workout plants for user to achieve goals.

Problem

I created an app where user can control their schedule, get motivated and personalize their diet plan.

Discovery

Competitors Analysis

I started with a Competitor Analysis to refine my design approach and generate ideas for a user-friendly product that stands out in the market.

User interviews

I conduct user interviews to understand how people actually use fitness apps, which has helped me avoid assumptions and focus on features that users truly need.

Participants: 5 users of fitness apps
Format: Qualitative interviews based on 3 question blocks
Purpose: Identify habits, needs, and frustrations to inform key design decisions for a personalized fitness experience.

Key Insights

This section summarizes the most important patterns and takeaways from the interviews. These insights helped identify what users truly care about, what frustrates them, and what opportunities exist to improve their fitness app experience.

Barriers

  • Issues: small space at home, screen focus, and drop in motivation without live feedback.

Opportunities

  • Wishlist: smart filtering, local workout discovery, equipment-based plans, integrated community/coaching.

Consistency & Motivation

  • All exercised 2–3 times a week with clear fitness goals.

  • Motivation linked to visual progress, ease of use, and reminders.

Valued Features

  • Most used: variety of workouts, nutrition plans, motivational copy, intuitive interface.

  • Simplicity and structure were key for different types of users.

Define

“Job to be Done” Framework

Using the 'Job to be Done' framework, I translated user goals into actionable design focus areas. These statements helped me stay user-centered while shaping the WellnessPure experience.

When I work out at home,
I want access to a variety of training formats, so I can stay motivated and keep my routine fresh.

When I feel proud of my achievements,
I want to connect with others in the app,
so I stay motivated through community feedback.

When I set dietary goals,
I want to track calories and see progress,
so I can stay on target and reach my ideal weight.

When I want to maintain a healthy lifestyle,
I want to share my results,
so I feel encouraged and supported by others.

Customer Journey Map

Through a Customer Journey Map (CJM), I analyzed the user experience in Wellness Pure, from discovery to long-term engagement. This helped identify key touchpoints, pain points, and opportunities for improvement, refining the user flow and enhancing usability to align with users' fitness goals.

Kano Model

The Kano Model helped prioritize features in Wellness Pure by assessing their impact on user satisfaction, categorizing them into Basic, Performance, and Excitement needs to create a balanced and engaging experience.

Development

Information architecture

I structured the information architecture of Wellness Pure to ensure an intuitive user experience, organizing content, designing clear navigation, implementing search functionality, and defining user flows for seamless interaction.

User Flow

I mapped out the user flow for Wellness Pure, focusing on key interactions like account setup, workout selection, progress tracking, and goal setting. By aligning flows with research insights, I created a seamless, intuitive experience that supports users in their fitness journey.

Wireframes

This section showcases the low-fidelity wireframes for Wellness Pure, illustrating key steps in the user flow—from account creation to workout selection. Each screen is designed to support a smooth and focused experience, helping users navigate through the app effortlessly.

Delivery

User testing

User testing was conducted at the wireframe stage to validate navigation flow early, identify potential usability issues, and better understand how users interact with core features. This allowed for quick adjustments to the interface structure without investing too much time into redesigning high-fidelity mockups.

UI kit

I created a UI Kit for Wellness Pure to ensure consistency across the app’s interface. It includes components, typography, colors, and icons that follow a unified visual language, making the design process more efficient and scalable.

UI design

I designed the UI of Wellness Pure with a focus on clarity, motivation, and ease of use, using clean layouts, calming yet energetic colors, and intuitive components to create an engaging fitness experience.

Home screen

This screen is designed for users to quickly find the right workout without stress. I’ve organized the content into sections — Focus Areas, Sports Marathon, and Warm-up — so users can easily choose based on their needs.
Search and filter options help users find workouts that match their level and goals, while the display of difficulty and calories adds motivation. The design is kept simple, with clear navigation to activity, nutrition, and profile, ensuring users stay focused on their fitness journey.

Yoga Marathon

This screen introduces the Yoga Marathon, motivating users to join a 7-day challenge by offering a structured path to progress, with clear workout categories and easy navigation. The Workout Details Screen provides essential information about the workout, including duration, intensity, and calorie burn, helping users stay on track and motivated. With its clean, intuitive design and prominent call-to-action buttons, the app ensures a seamless, user-friendly experience focused on achieving fitness goals.

Activity screen

These are the Activity screens, with Calendar and Progress tabs to track daily activity and weekly stats. The Calendar tab shows workout days and provides workout suggestions, while the Progress tab displays key metrics like calories burned and steps taken, along with a weekly activity chart. The app syncs automatically with Apple Watch and the Health App for accurate tracking, and period tracking is included to monitor energy levels. The clean, intuitive design helps users stay focused on their progress and well-being.

Nutrition screen

This is the Nutrition section, designed to provide not just healthy recipes but real tools to improve nutrition. Each recipe includes tags (like vegetarian, cooking time) for quick filtering. The recipe screen displays ingredients and step-by-step instructions, with an added Shop Groceries button linking to grocery delivery services like DoorDash or Grubhub, creating business opportunities. Additionally, a banner at the top invites users to sign up for personal nutrition consultations, offering a potential revenue stream through paid services.

Personalized Fitness and Nutrition Plans

These screens provide users with a personalized experience through a chat with a trainer or nutritionist, offering individual recommendations for workouts or recipes. After the conversation, users receive adjustable options, which appear in the "Personal Plan" section on the main dashboard for easy access and updates. This approach enhances the user experience and offers monetization potential through premium consultations.

Screen Mirroring for Workouts

One main pain point is users feeling restricted by small screens during home workouts. To solve this, I added a feature that lets users mirror content to a larger screen, like a TV, using AirPlay for iOS or Google Cast for Android. This creates a more immersive experience, offering users more space to move and train comfortably at home.

Future Opportunities

  1. AI-generated personal plan
A personalized workout plan powered by AI, tailored to the user’s goals, fitness level, and feedback.

  2. Mood/energy check-ins
Letting users log their mood and energy before and after a workout to better understand what works best for their body and mind.

  3. Smart rest day suggestions
Intelligent rest day recommendations based on recent activity, fatigue signals, and overall wellbeing.

  4. Water intake tracking
Daily hydration goals and smart reminders to help users stay energized, focused, and recover better.

  5. Tinder for fitness buddies
In the future, I’d love to create a feature that helps users find local workout partners — like a “Tinder for fitness friends.” Whether it’s a running buddy, gym partner, or someone to do yoga in the park with — movement feels better together.
